Description
On the “more” screen users can connect with the Oral-B Fun Zone app to have more animation during brushing. This seems to be a more kid-friendly version of the Oral-B app. Users can create an account by signing up for Oral-B Me. Oral-B products can also be browsed and purchased from the “more” screen.
Overview
Oral-B covers “the basics” of brushing, flossing, and rinsing on the main screen by allowing users to set reminders. Reminders can also be set to notify when it’s time to replace brush heads on toothbrushes. The main feature is a circular timer counting the time spent brushing, flossing, and rinsing. The times are then sent to the results screen where they can be compared over days, weeks, etc. There is also an achievements screen where awards are unlocked after so many successfully logged brushing, rinsing, and flossing times.
Pros
Oral-B prompts users to sync a bluetooth toothbrush to the app. The app opens with guidelines on how a synced bluetooth toothbrush will detect positions, ensuring all sections of the mouth are brushed. It also detects pressure, notifying users when they may be brushing too hard. In the coaching screen it allows users to set reminders for cleaning the tongue, brushing, and rinsing, as these are important habits for maintaining fresh breath.
Cons
The achievements screen shows faded award icons that become more apparent when unlocked. There is no explanation of what these awards are or how it benefits users to earn them. While the timing feature can be enjoyed by all users, it seems the full potential of the app can only be enjoyed after purchasing and syncing an Oral-B bluetooth toothbrush.
